The residency is not advertised. It does not have a website, an application form, or a public list of alumni. It is, by design, the kind of program you hear about from someone who has already done it.
For Aman, the calculus is straightforward. The hotel does not need more bookings. What it wants, and what it has quietly been building for the last eighteen months, is a body of work — photography, essays, films — made by people whose taste it trusts.
The creators who have passed through the Ginza suites this year include a photographer better known in Paris than in New York, a novelist between books, and a documentary director working on something she will not discuss on the record. None of them posted about it.
